Implementation of UN Conferences and Summits of the 1990s
WFM promotes empowered global and regional structures to develop and implement the agendas adopted at the world summits convened by the UN. These issues of environment and development, women, population, human rights, habitat and social development are vital to the successful evolution of the UN.
“WFM advocates for full implementation of conferences’ commitments.”
As part of the follow-up to the series of UN conferences and summits of the 1990s including the Millennium Summit, WFM is not only monitoring implementation and follow-up processes, but is also guarding against minimalist agendas for the UN. WFM will continue to advocate for full implementation of conferences’ commitments rather than allowing them to be subsumed under the UN’s Millennium Development Goals agenda.
