Ongoing and devastating conflicts throughout the world continue to highlight the need for the establishment of an effective long-term solution in the shape of a comprehensive system of global security. Saving future generations from cruel and phantom scourge of war is the promise of the UN Charter. The original and continuing purpose of WFM is to transfer the Charter and the UN into a democratic legal order capable of doing just that; preventing war and enforcing peace. WFM's program to Create Lasting Peace, Preventing Conflicts and Protecting Civilians are geared to achieve this perhaps ultimate goal. WFM advocates a constellation of reform processes of the UN, the Security Council, the UN General Assembly and a strengthening of the regional organizations' capacities to maintain and enforce peace and justice. WFM continues its efforts in areas that could lead to preventing future conflicts in the aspiration of creating lasting peace. WFM is dedicated to ensuring the safety of civilians throughout the world and mobilizing the international community to respond to all threats to their security.

The cornerstone of WFM's program to prevent conflict and protect civilians is the Responsibility to Protect – Engaging Civil Society (R2PCS) project aimed at increasing awareness and support for the principles presented in the report by the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty entitled The Responsibility to Protect. In addition, WFM advocates for a worldwide culture of Conflict Prevention and is engaged in the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict.

“WFM advocates for the establishment of a United Nations Emergency Peace Service (UNEPS) as a standby rapidly deployable force.”

Human security has become a measure of global security, placing individual security as a cornerstone of priorities for many governments. With terror attacks on more than 10 states in the last few years, Human Security and Terrorism have become the center of the global agenda for international peace and security. WFM advocates for multilateral efforts in compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights in order to end the scourge of terrorism.
